Scripture Song- Psalm 19:14

Happy 3rd Monday!

Our Scripture Song today is a short, easy one. You may even be like me and memorized this one when you were a kid for Sunday school or church camp. Even if you did, sometimes I think it’s helpful to hear a verse in a different way, because hearing it differently encourages you to hear it differently!

“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord my Rock and my Redeemer.” -Psalm 19:14

I have rewritten this blog twice now and I just keep feeling the encouragement from the Holy Spirit to point you to only one thing here.

“O Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer” Sometimes, I feel like we skip over these little endings to these verses. Our attention stays on the things we feel like we have to figure out how to do. We analyze the self portion and ignore the rest of the verse, as if it has no meaning. In this case, it would be to make sure our words and the meditations of our hearts are acceptable in the Lord’s sight. In other words, we better get our act together, am I right? But who does it say God is in this verse?

He’s our Rock and Redeemer. He is able to redeem my words and thoughts when I fall short and He gives me a solid place and perspective to stand on. He transforms these things in me because of who He is, not because of how well I can get my act together and accomplish them

This verse seems to carry a tone of, “Because He is Rock and Redeemer and I’m yielding my life to Him, my words and the meditation of my heart (the things I think about and dwell on) will be pleasing in His sight. I am only capable of these things because of who He is in and through me.”

Your encouragement for this week:

I know this was short and simple. But too often it’s us who try to complicate things by taking over the “fixing of ourselves.” So your encouragement this week is to sit with the Lord, remember who He is and ask Him who He wants to be for you in your life and heart. Then simply ask Him if there is any way He would like you to partner with Him in it.
